The Vienna Wiesenthal Institute for Holocaust Studies (VWI)

The Vienna Wiesenthal Institute for Holocaust Studies (VWI) is active in three central fields: research, documentation, and education of all issues related to antisemitism, racism, and the Holocaust, including its origins and aftermath. The main collections held at the VWI comprise the Holocaust-related parts of the archive of the Jewish Community of Vienna (Israelitische Kultusgemeinde Wien, IKG), which are on loan to the institute at its new location and are currently being digitalized, as well as Simon Wiesenthal’s extensive estate.

Internship Position:

The student will be primarily involved in the work of the Simon Wiesenthal Archive and assist the archivists in the following tasks:

- cataloging correspondence in relevant languages.

- sorting and preparing digital documents for online publication.

If there is capacity and interest, a guided tour of the museum may also be possible with the training of a museum colleague.

The student can take part in the methods and sources seminars of the VWI and public events of the institute. The student will support the academic work of the institute. The student will participate in the running projects and help organize events of the VWI.

The exact tasks will be coordinated individually for each student according to his/her abilities and the needs of the institute.
